Democracy Tech (Dem Tech) Innovative education for a technological republic
Technology advanced. School did not. Students already live in a world split between the real and the virtual. We still teach as if the classroom is the only public square.
What it teaches Students learn to be citizens and operators of the new platforms.
- American history and founding documents as arguments to be read, not slogans to be felt
- What citizenship requires in this country
- How to navigate LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and similar spaces: communicate, collaborate offline, and see the dangers built into virtual worlds
- Coding as a language
- AI as a tool they use without handing it their judgment
The rule is simple: teach students HOW to think, not WHAT to think
The course phases from the record to the machine to the tool: founding texts, then code and the platforms, then AI used without handing over judgment.
Why it exists A generation trained to accept conclusions cannot run a republic or a labor market. Merit depends on skill. Families stay dependent when school produces neither citizens nor workers. Democracy Tech is built to produce both.
Who it is for Secondary students first. Adaptable for teacher training and adult civics.
What done looks like A student can read the Declaration and the Constitution, pass a real civics standard, use AI without outsourcing thought, and show up in public, online and off, without being used by the platform.
